Marc Chevrel

Marc has been a manager in industrial fields for more than 20 years, with a varied experience in energy, chemistry, manufacturing, engineering and services. He was the head of the regional office for industrial environment in Northern France before working for the French Energy Regulatory Commission as head of the electricity markets. He then joined the nuclear engineering and manufacturing company Areva, where he held various management roles, including leader of industrial business units with a work force of several thousand people, and sales of about 1 billion dollars. Marc has a wealth of international experience and he has worked and lived in four countries (France, Germany, Japan and the USA). Marc is a graduate from both École Normale Supérieure and Mines ParisTech and holds master’s degrees in mathematics and engineering.

Sophie Maneval

Sophie Maneval has expertise in finance, business law and biotechnology. Sophie joined Arbiom in 2011 as legal counsel. She was appointed Corporate Secretary in September 2017 to oversee legal affairs, including litigation and intellectual property, finance and human resources matters. Prior to Arbiom, Sophie was part of the legal team of the French biotech company Integragen.

Sophie earned a Master’s degree in Business Law from the University of Toulouse 1 Capitole, France, and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology and Law from the University of Tours, France. She has an Executive Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Paris Dauphine.

Lisette Tenlep, PhD, MBA

Lisette has over 10 years of professional experience in the biotechnology, renewable energy sectors, biomass conversion technologies and bioprocessing. Lisette oversees the development, implementation and validation of Arbiom’s Wood-To-Food technology platform. Prior to Arbiom, Lisette was at Blue Sugars (formerly KL Energy) where she scaled up the biomass conversion technology from lab to demonstration scale and played a key role in entering a joint venture agreement with a Petrobras. During her employment at Blue Sugars, she developed enzyme applications methods for bioethanol production from sugar cane bagasse and other feedstocks; she led and developed dilute acid pretreatment technologies for eucalyptus bark & chips, bamboo chips & fines, hard – and softwood for various partners; and she developed and implemented Blue Sugars’ biomass physicochemical analyses. Lisette holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from South Dakota State University; an MBA from Duke University; and a B.Sc. & a M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Siegen, in Germany.

Anthony Scime

Anthony has extensive experience in financial analysis as well as business strategy. Anthony served as the CEO of OptaFuel. Prior to Arbiom, Anthony worked in financial strategy for the global pharmaceutical category of Bausch & Lomb. In this role he assessed market opportunities and evaluated licensing deals, principally in ophthalmic therapeutic areas. Prior to Bausch & Lomb, Anthony was in buy-side investment management. During this time, he invested in a variety of instruments and launched two mutual funds and two investment partnerships. Anthony received an MBA from the University of Rochester, and a BA from Franklin & Marshall College.

Ricardo Ekmay, PhD

Ricardo Ekmay is the Senior Vice President of Nutrition and Product Development for Arbiom Inc., a Durham, North Carolina-based agricultural technology company. He also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Poultry Science at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. Prior to his time at Arbiom, Ricardo spent several years as a Research Scientist with Dow AgroSciences LLC, garnering experience in product development, regulatory affairs, and science policy advocacy. Ricardo received his BS in Animal Science from Cornell University, and his MS and PhD in Poultry Science from the University of Arkansas. Ricardo returned to Cornell for completion of his post-doctoral studies. Ricardo has broad expertise in all facets of nutrition and health in both monogastric and ruminant animals; and has a strong passion for feed ingredient development and food systems. He is a member of the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS), Poultry Science Association (PSA), and American Society for Nutrition (ASN). He serves on various committees including the nutrition and aquaculture committees of the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), and the diversity, equity, and inclusion committee of ASAS. He also devotes his time to community outreach and the promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, especially in the Hispanic-Latin community.

Michael Bedrosian

Michael has a lead role in technology development, scale-up, and project development for the commercialization of Arbiom’s technology. Michael brings over 25 years of experience including research and development of advanced bio-based molecules with broad consulting engineering experience in the chemical process and pulp & paper industries. Prior to Arbiom, Michael was the Biomass Technology Manager for Novozymes where he bridged across Business Development, R&D and Technology within the Biofuels and Animal Health and Nutrition segments to enable the success of partners, improve industrial enzyme and microorganism performance, and advance internal platform research. Prior to Novozymes, Michael was the Process Technology Manager for BP Biofuels leading a team in the research and development of technology platforms for advanced bio-based fuels. Earlier, as Director of Process Engineering for Verenium, Michael had a leadership role in the engineering, design, and optimization of their lignocellulosic ethanol Demonstration facility as well as various commercialization efforts in the US and Brazil for second generation fuel. Michael received his BS Chemical Engineering from University of Maine, and MS Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Maine.

Charles-Henri Nicolas, PhD

Charles-Henri has expertise in process development, material science for separation, purification and catalytic conversion and a background in process simulation and chemical modeling. Prior to Arbiom, Charles-Henri was conducting research activities for Renault in the car exhaust after treatment field. He has worked as a modeling expert and created catalytic and adsorption models for the deNOx and TWC. Prior to Renault, he had been developing inorganic nano-structured material for gas separation and conversion together with an innovative on-board capture and recovery system. He is the author of more than 10 scientific publications and 15 conference communications. Charles-Henri received a MS degree and Ph.D in chemical engineering with emphasis on process simulation from the Claude Bernard University Lyon, France.

Amélie Drouault

Amélie Drouault has strong interest in developing sustainable businesses related to green chemistry and biotechnologies. Amélie joined Arbiom in 2017 to lead the Business Development activities in Europe, including the management and coordination of publicly funded projects such as the SYLFEED project. Prior to working at Arbiom, Amélie held various R&D, marketing and sales positions at leading food and material companies. Amélie holds a double master degree from renowned French Engineering schools, in Chemical Science from Chimie ParisTech and Biotechnologies from AgroParisTech.

Emily Glenn

Emily leads Arbiom’s business development initiatives, including product development, commercial strategy and fundraising. Emily has experience in technology, finance and innovation, working in leadership roles at companies including Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Merrill Lynch and IBM. She has also consulted with investors and entrepreneurs on business plans and due diligence. Emily earned her MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, and her BA in Economics and Political Science from Duke University.

Chahram Becharat

Chahram Becharat leads IPC, a diversified industrial Group with activities including minerals, water, agriculture, packaging, industrial real estate, publishing and services. He is also Chairman of Vectaury (retail analytics). Before managing DFS group, he was Head of Europatweb, a $700m investment fund dedicated to digital technology managed by LVMH that created LibertySurf, Webhelp or SeLoger and also supervised Groupe Arnault’s 16% investment in Netflix. Chahram Becharat is also Executive Chairman of Craft AI, a company specializing in the development of artificial intelligence tools. He is Director of the French company 700,000 hours, the first traveling hotel on the planet. Previously a corporate banker at Morgan Stanley Bank in London, Chahram Becharat also served for 7 years with Bernard Arnault, within the LVMH Group. In this context, he oversaw more than 5 billion Euros of acquisitions that led to the creation of the Group’s selective distribution branch (Duty Free Shoppers, Le Bon Marché, La Grande Épicerie, La Samaritaine, Sephora).

Olivier Appert

Olivier is chairing the French Energy Council (the French committee of the World Energy Council. He is the General Delegate of the French Academy of Engineering. From April 2003 to April 2015, he was Chairman and CEO of IFP Energies Nouvelles. Prior to that, in October 1999 he was appointed Director of the International Energy Agency’s Long-Term Cooperation and Policy Analysis Directorate. From 1998 to 1999, he was the Senior Executive Vice-President of ISIS, a technology publicly listed subsidiary of the Institut Français du Pétrole (IFP). From 1994 to 1998, he worked as Executive Vice-President of the IFP in charge of research and development activities. From 1989 to 1994, he headed the oil and gas department of the French Ministry of Industry. Olivier also served in the private sector from 1986 to 1989 as Vice-President for mobile radio activity and strategy of the Phillips Group. He was Executive Director of the French Minister of Industry’s cabinet from 1984 to 1986 and was a member of the Prime Minister’s cabinet from 1981 to 1984. Olivier is a graduate of the French École Polytechnique and of the École des Mines.

Ian Dobson, PhD

Ian Dobson, PhD, is an experienced chemical and fuel industry executive. Ian also advises BP’s Alternative Energy business for which he evaluates technology and intellectual property for BP’s venture investments in alternative energy and is a board member of Butamax, LCC, an iso-butanol focused joint venture between DuPont and BP. As Vice President for Technology in BP biofuels he led the development of new enzyme and yeast biology for ethanol production and delivered the process design basis for BP’s cellulosic ethanol. He was the technology board member for BP in a joint-development collaboration on biodiesel with DSM. Ian has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Leeds, UK, and an MBA from Humberside Business School. He is a visiting Professor of Bioenergy for the University of Nottingham.

Sampsa Auvinen

Sampsa Auvinen has been working in the forest industry for 27 years. He is the President of the European Organisation of the Sawmill Industries and a Board Member of the European Confederation of the Woodworking Industries.

Sampsa is a Board Professional serving on the Board of numerous companies in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, France Germany and the United Kingdom. In the sawmilling industry, Sampsa is a Board member of Westas Group Oy, Baltika Holzindustrie GmbH and Chairman of the Board of Pölkky Group Oy. Prior to becoming a Board Professional, Sampsa was Group CEO of Norvik Timber for nine years. Sampsa is also a guest lecturer at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. Sampsa is married with three children and is a keen ice swimmer.
